Founded in 1925 and named after the poet Jusup Balasagyn, KNU is the oldest and largest higher‑education institution in Kyrgyzstan.
It houses 56+ faculties and 8 academic buildings, with 61 departments and around 2,654 staff members.
In August 2023, KNU’s Faculty of Medicine partnered with Yenepoya University (India) to offer a 6‑year MD program, enhancing international medical education ties.
